Over 1.6 Million Coins Redeemed in a Month
DStv customers in South Africa have already redeemed more than 1.6 million DStv coins to partially or fully pay for their subscriptions since the launch of the feature on the MyDStv App. Introduced just a month ago, the innovation allows subscribers to convert coins earned through DStv Rewards into direct savings on their monthly fees.
Strong Uptake Among Value-Conscious Customers
Since its rollout, usage of DStv coins has increased by 83% week-on-week, reflecting strong adoption among customers seeking greater value and flexibility.

“In addition to entertainment vouchers, event tickets, BoxOffice and Showmax discounts, customers can now use their coins to cover subscription costs — with many paying their full DStv bill using rewards alone.”
Flexible Payment Options for All
For customers whose coins don’t cover the full subscription amount, the remaining balance can be paid using any supported digital payment method. This is especially useful for those without debit orders or who prefer managing payments online.
Part of a Broader Customer Experience Drive
The DStv coins initiative forms part of MultiChoice’s broader focus on enhancing customer convenience and value. Other initiatives include:
- The return of Open Time (7–9 November), granting all decoder owners with an active subscription full access to DStv Premium for the weekend.
- Discounted decoder offers to make HD viewing more affordable.
- Two additional all-device streams for DStv Premium subscribers during the festive season.
