Joining Ziiki Media nearly four years ago, Ria brought with her a wealth of knowledge acquired through studying the intricacies of the business and the music industry.
Her role as the Executive Director A&R and Marketing requires her to work closely with artists such as Nadia Nakai, Kingdmusic, Rayvanny, Lexsil, Dr Chaii and so much more.
She guides their musical direction, fostering growth, and strategically marketing them to diverse audiences.
As the Regional Manager of Southern Africa, Ria oversees daily operations across the southern region, driving the development and growth of the Ziiki Media brand to unprecedented heights.
Her leadership and vision have played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s presence in both the Indian and African markets.
Hailing from a Tanzanian-Indian family, Ria’s multicultural upbringing, coupled with her extensive travels across Europe and the US, exposed her to music from diverse backgrounds.
From a young age, she immersed herself in the study of music, dedicating at least 15 hours per week to her passion, even while pursuing a degree in engineering.
Throughout her university years, Ria’s love for music remained steadfast. She led an acapella group and interned for Universal Music in the US and South Africa during school breaks, gaining invaluable insights into the industry.
Upon graduating, she embraced her family’s legacy by joining Ziiki Media, where she initially served as a member of the marketing team before ascending to oversee the entire function.
One of Ria’s career highlights includes her instrumental role in the success of the “Only One King” album by AliKiba.
Through her leadership, the album’s collaborations, music video shoots, and marketing strategies propelled AliKiba’s audience growth exponentially.
Witnessing the tangible impact of curating an album and executing effective marketing strategies reinforced Ria’s belief in the transformative power of music.
In reflecting on her journey as a woman in the music industry, Ria shares,
“Being a woman in power in the music industry comes with its challenges, but it also offers immense opportunities for creativity and innovation. I am proud to represent women in this dynamic field, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of female leaders.”
