Lekau Sehoana Launches New Venture, UBUHLE BENDALO INVESTMENTS, Amid DRIP Liquidation

Lekau Sehoana Launches New Venture UBUHLE BENDALO INVESTMENTS

Lekau Sehoana, the founder of the now-defunct sneaker brand DRIP Footwear, has announced a new business initiative aimed at diversifying his investments and contributing to the township economy.

This announcement comes shortly after the liquidation of DRIP, a decision mandated by the High Court in Johannesburg due to the company’s failure to settle a R20 million advertising debt.

Sehoana reflected on the five years spent building DRIP from the ground up, highlighting valuable lessons learned in customer service, retail, financial management, and distribution.

“My ultimate goal has been to pursue diversified investments across various sectors, including fintech, retail, mining, insurance, and property development,”

he stated.

Sehoana emphasized the significant potential of the township market, which is estimated to be worth R900 billion. He expressed his commitment to investing in this space, particularly focusing on developing comprehensive skills programs and establishing partnerships with local organizations and entrepreneurs.

“We want to approach the market not as competitors, but as collaborators who can help foster growth and innovation,”

he said.

The launch of UBUHLE BENDALO INVESTMENTS marks a new chapter for Sehoana, who has faced challenges following the recent financial troubles of DRIP.

The liquidation of the brand, which he established in 2019, resulted in the closure of fourteen stores across the country and the termination of employment for many staff members.

Sehoana reassured his supporters and potential partners that the experiences gained from his previous venture would inform his new initiatives.

“We have learned so much, and we’re committed to using that knowledge to uplift and empower our communities,”

he said.

As UBUHLE BENDALO INVESTMENTS takes shape, the founder aims to create a mentorship framework that will help nurture aspiring entrepreneurs within the township economy.

“This is about creating opportunities for people who come from these communities, just like I did,”

he added.

Sehoana’s ambitious vision promises to bridge gaps in the market while also addressing the pressing need for sustainable economic development in South Africa’s townships. With the official launch of UBUHLE BENDALO INVESTMENTS, all eyes will be on Sehoana as he navigates this new venture in the wake of DRIP’s challenges.
