Samsung Director resigns after almost two decades
After 19 years of true loyalty, passion and dedicated service at Samsung Electronics South Africa, Hlubi Shivanda: Business Operations and Innovation and Corporate Affairs Director has resigned.
Shivanda has been at the helm of Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Order Management and Process Innovation divisions under the Business Operations & Innovation Group portfolio.
Additionally, he has successfully held the dual role of heading up the Corporate Affairs division as well, which encompasses Transformation, Public Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Bumsuk Hong, the President & CEO at Samsung Africa said:

As Samsung, we are grateful to Shivanda for his commitment to our business, his leadership, passion and drive – this has definitely not gone unnoticed and will be greatly missed. Importantly, his progression within our business in the last two decades bears testimony to his relentless endeavour for transformation and achievement.”
Hong added:
“Shivanda has in the last few years demonstrated his excellent ability to steer the Public Private Partnerships between Samsung and relevant government departments over the years.. This has seen him successfully transform relationships with the SITA through the globally recognised Solve for Tomorrow projects. His leadership attests to the growth of Samsung Innovation Campus into developing African countries. As well as driving for empowerment within the artisanal sector, such as Ekurhuleni Artisans and Skills Training Centre (EASTC) to name a few. ”
Shivanda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership teams he has had the privilege of working with over the years.
“The support that I received from these executives, my team and other colleagues within the business has contributed tremendously to my growth in the last 19 years. As Heraclitus said, the only constant in life is change. Having said that, I am confident that the team I have led will build on the legacy I am leaving behind. I am grateful for the time, experiences and relationships gained in my tenure, and Samsung will remain in my heart, always,”

About Hlubi Shivanda
As a member of the local board of directors, Shivanda has played a crucial role in government relations for Samsung. Shivanda joined Samsung in October 2005 in Sales Administration and rose through the ranks with determination in various roles in the Sales and Distribution as well as Logistics departments. The leap in his career came when he was seconded to Singapore, South East Asia region, from 2009 to 2010, as part of the Global implementation team for the ERP system used by all 325 000+ Samsung employees to this day. In 2014, Shivanda was instrumental in the setting up of Samsung’s first production facility in Africa at the Dube Trade Port, Durban, South Africa alongside representatives from the DTIC.
In his current position as the Executive Board member, Hlubi has been responsible for driving transformation. He has also previously served as chairperson of the Transformation and Employment Equity Committee and is a member of both the Social & Ethics Committee (Southern Africa) and the Risk Committee (Southern and Pan Africa). Amongst his many accolades, he has led his team to win four Global awards in the Group’s annual Innovation, Management and Operation awards in the last four years.
